Hi! I’m Erin, an automated IDShield representative here to assist you with any questions you may have.

I tried to get my free annual credit report on the Internet but they tried to charge me. Why?

  • Make sure you are using the correct website for accessing the free annual disclosures you’re entitled to by federal law: www.annualcreditreport.com. If you’re using that site, you could be charged if you asked for your credit score or a report that you already obtained in the last 12 months. Your credit score is not included with the free report. The credit bureaus are allowed to charge for your score. Also, the federal law states you are entitled to one free report from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion one time every 12 months. Any subsequent reports will carry a fee.
